Mr Wayne

Your teacher this year is Mr Wayne and your teaching assistant is Louise.

Thank you for an awesome first term, the children have worked extremely hard and I hope they (and you) have had a chance to relax over the Christmas break. During the spring term, there will be a few changes, detailed below but much will be the same as previously. Thank you for your continued support and remember if you need to discuss anything, you know where to find me.

Topic
This term our topic will be called: Kings, Dragons and Gods! The children will continue their journey through time, exploring Anglo Saxon and Viking Britain as well as mythical realms. Our class trip is in the process of being finalised and more details will follow shortly.

PE Lessons
This term, the children will be swimming on a Monday afternoon. Please ensure money, appropriate swimming kit (including caps for longer hair) and towels are brought in, as spare kits are very limited. We will hopefully have a normal P.E. lesson on a Thursday afternoon, so make sure kit is still within school Monday to Friday as spontaneous P.E lessons may occur.

Reading Books
Thank you for all the hard work that’s going into your children’s reading. It is clear to see that they have already made immense amounts of progress. The Hurley reading challenge is still going and I have created a special ‘Mr Wayne Reading Award’ for children who achieve the Diamond certificate.

Homework
Shortly, you will be receiving a new homework policy reinforcing the changes stated below. After receiving the homework survey, we have altered the current homework policy to incorporate a greater amount of specific Math and English activities. One piece of either Math or English homework will be given out on a Friday and expected back into school the following Wednesday. A new piece of homework will then be sent out and that Friday and the cycle will begin again. A single creative topic piece can be created at any point during the term to help bring the topic alive at home.

Spellings & Math Target Books
Children are doing an excellent job bring both books in for the Friday test and are clearly working hard on these activities both in and outside of school. The current format will continue with tests continuing on a Friday and rules/targets given out the same day.

General queries or ideas
Throughout the year, we spend an enormous amount of time together as a class and work extremely hard to ensure everything runs smoothly. If you have any queries, issues or ideas that could improve our classroom environment, then please let me know.

Water bottles and sun hats
Please ensure that your child has a named water bottle in school.

Thank you
Although I said it to begin with, thank you for your amazing support and I’m confident we will keep working tirelessly to help each other improve. I look forward to another incredible term! If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
